Stem Careers Program for Pakistan Olympiad Teams 2015

Stem Careers Program is the joint venture of the Higher Education Commission and Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences is going to start the Pakistan Olympiad Teams for 2015. For this purpose, they are going to start the 11^thNational Science Talent Contest (NSTC-11). The international Olympiads will be contested in the following categories:

·         26^thInternational Biology Olympiad in Denmark

·         47^thInternational Chemistry Olympiad in Azerbaijan

·         56^thInternational Mathematical Olympiad in Thailand

·         46^th International Physics Olympiad in India

The interested candidates can apply to participate in the 11^th National Science Talent Contest by sending their application till December 20, 2013. The candidates will also be provided with the cash prizes and certificates as well as offers admission in the BS Program in the Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS) with entry test to Pakistan IPOH team.

The candidates should have scored an aggregate of 70% marks or more in core subjects including Physics, Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics of Matric or O-level. The applicants should be FSc/A-level 1^st year student and their ages must not more than 20 years and should not be enrolled in any university on 30 June 21015.

UHS Lahore First Merit List for Admission in MBBS Program

Lahore, University of Health Sciences Lahore started admissions in the MBBS and BDS programs. The UHS Lahore managed the entry test of the candidates and interviews of the successful candidates for grant of admission in the 17 medical and 3 dental colleges of the province. Now UHS Lahore has prepared the merit list of the candidates, which is 86.1818 while the merit of the previous year was 84.3615. UHS Lahore has calculated the merit list of the candidates through the formula being given by PMDC. According to this formula, the marks has been taken as 10% from Matric, 40% from FSc (Pre-Medical) and 50% from entry test being conducted by UHS Lahore.

UHS Lahore received total 41677 applications for grant of admission in the MBBS and BDS programs. 8783 candidates were eligible to appear in the entry test. When the result of the entry test is announced, 3197 candidates are providing admission on open merit including 3022 in MBBS program and 175 in BDS program. UHS Lahore has reserved 61 seats for under developed areas, in which 49 students are given admission in the MBBS and 12 are given admission in the BDS program. UHS Lahore has also reserved 20 seats for disabled candidates, in which 19 are given admission in MBBS and 01 candidates in BDS program.
